NordLink, the "green cable," is the first direct power link between Germany and Norway. The high-voltage direct-current link will enable the exchange of 1,400 megawatts of renewable energy - wind power from Germany and hydropower from Norway. NordLink will thus make a decisive contribution to the energy turnaround in Germany and in Europe.
The exchange of energy via NordLink will increase the security of supply for both the German and Norwegian power grids and enable the exchange of renewable energy, especially hydropower and wind, between the two countries. This will not only have a positive impact on energy prices, but will also further advance the integration of the European electricity market.
